It's Hormones

I need to talk to you now. Not tell you a story — talk to you. Woman to woman.
Because I didn't lose two years of my life so I could keep this to myself.
Here's what I believe, and I believe it in my bones now, paid for in full:
We are testing women at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons, our entire lives.
THEY test you when you're already broken. When you're already gray, already exhausted, already twenty pounds heavier and crying in a parking lot wondering where you went. THEY wait for the crisis, and then we hand you a pill.
I say we start in your twenties.
Test your hormones when you're young and strong and thriving. Draw the map while the roads are still clear. Build the baseline before you need it, so that when things start to drift — and they will — somebody actually knows what your good looked like. So no doctor ever gets to look at a number in a vacuum and tell you who you are.
