See You In A Year
Off every supplement, back at the doctor, and still no answers, just "see you in a year." Part 3 of Her Hormone Story.
Here's the part nobody could explain to me.
I went back. Still off every supplement, exactly as I was told. Weeks of it. They drew my blood again — and nothing had changed.
Sit with that. If I was so sick, if my body was failing in all the ways she'd named, then pulling everything out of it should have moved something. A number. Anything.
Nothing moved. Same labs. While I got worse.
So she sent me to specialists. The good ones — long waits, impressive letterhead. I walked into each one hopeful, and each one did the same thing. Ran their tests. Studied their results. Shrugged.
Nothing definitive. Let's keep an eye on it. See you in a year.
A year.
I was falling apart in real time — hair in the drain, energy gone, a stranger settling into my body — and the specialists' plan was to wait and watch. Check back in twelve months and see how much more of me was left.
Meanwhile my own doctor was pulling me in the other direction — monthly bloodwork, then quarterly, dragging me back in again and again to watch a body I was watching fall apart in the mirror every single day.
